Steve loves community gardening

This film is part of 1000 Londoners, a ten-year digital project which aims to create a digital portrait of a city through 1000 of the people who identify themselves with it. The profile contains a 3 minute film that gives an insight into the life of the Londoner, as well as their personal photos of London and some answers to crucial questions about their views on London life. Over the course of the project we aim to reveal as many facets of the capital as possible, seeing city life from 1000 points of view.

Steve is the the treasurer of the management committee at Culpeper Community Garden in Islington. He’s 77 and has been gardening for most of his life. In the film, Steve reflects on the art and cycle of gardening.

This Film was made by a group of young people aged 14-21 during a project which took place over Summer 2017 at Lift Youth Hub, Islington. Facilitated by professional filmmakers from Chocolate Films, the participants were able to develop key camera and production skills whilst exploring the stories of their chosen Londoners.
