Popup Media Studio comes to Peckham!
Chocolate Films is very excited to be running another popup media studio, as part of the community engagement strand of the 1000 Londoners project! Following on from the success of the previous popup media studios in Wandsworth and Hackney, we’re really excited to be bringing the studio to a new community! We will be at The Aylesham Shopping Centre in Peckham for one day only, partnering up with Southwark Council’s annual celebration of Black History Month.
For the wider 1000 Londoners project, Chocolate Films is engaging with 1000 people living and working in London to find out what it means to be a Londoner. We want to explore the heritage and history of Southwark’s African, Caribbean and Diaspora communities, by offering drop in sessions where visitors of all ages and abilities can participate in interactive digital media activities. Peckham has a vibrant and rich cultural background so what better place to find our subjects for the project. The films made will be broadcasted on a new interactive video sharing website – www.1000londoners.com (full website launch is January 2014!).
The 1-day Pop Up Media Studio at the Aylesham Shopping Centre will include:
– A video booth to record your individual experiences of being a Londoner
– A time-lapse booth where people can create graphic cards and signposts in the midst of the hectic shopping experience
This event is free and the open space enables everyone of all ages to get creative and share their ‘Londoner’ stories. You can find us at the open space front of Morissons.
We look forward to seeing all you shoppers and non-shoppers on Saturday 19th October from 12 – 6pm.
For those who take part, you can find out what happens next on our 1000 Londoners blog.
