1000 Londoners Doc Workshops – We Are West London
Today, Chocolate Films has received £23,443 from Heathrow Community Fund for an exciting new project community project, We Are West London part of Chocolate Films’ online series 1000 Londoners. This multimedia programme will provide up to 40 young people aged 13 – 19, across the boroughs of Ealing, Hounslow and Hillingdon, with skills development and learning opportunities in documentary filmmaking.
Starting in March 2015, We Are West London will empower young people with technical skills, filmmaking training and creative experience to give a voice to the diverse community in West London. Participants from The Green School and Uxbridge College and A.P.P.L.E, Acton will attend workshops dedicated to filmmaking, documentary journalism and web publishing facilitated by Chocolate Films filmmakers. Over the course of the year, the project will also offer young people the opportunity to gain a Bronze Arts Award qualification as well as life-long experience in teamwork, confidence and self-esteem building and creative expression.
Young participant filmmakers will produce their own dynamic new series of six short documentary film portraits of individuals in West London. Each of the films will investigate the theme of ‘belonging’. The films will aim to break down social barriers in communities, dispel stereotypes and above all celebrate young creative talent. The We Are West London series will become part of Chocolate Films flagship community cohesion project 1000 Londoners and will be exhibited at community screenings and as part of 1000Londoners.com
