Tony’s Cuban cab

Tony loves Cuba so much that he painted an old cab of his in the colours of its flag and drove it around London for 16 years speaking to everyone he picked up about Cuban politics and campaigning for America’s trade embargo to be lifted. In this film he visits his auntie in his old Camden neighbourhood and chats away to her, not in the slightest put off by knowing “She’s sick of Cuba. She’s sick of me talking about Cuba”.

Tom Pietrasik is also making a longer documentary about Tony called “Taxi to Havana” which explores Tony’s unique identity as London taxi driver and communist revolutionary. It also tells the story of his beloved painted cab, which last year retired from the streets of London to a motor museum in Havana… its “spiritual home”. We will keep you posted about the release!
